Our "Building on Tradition" capital campaign fund is part of a very exciting facilities proposal to construct a new twin sheet ice facility located on the existing middle school grounds. In addition to being conveniently located for parents, and within walking distance for our young skaters, it would be constructed using the latest in energy conservation technology. Ice arenas typically are large consumers of energy; however, the proposed geothermal refrigeration system would change this and our operational costs would be greatly reduced. The heat generated during the ice freezing process will no longer be wasted. This heat will be reclaimed and used to assist in heating both the common areas in the ice arena and the newly renovated school. There are also many opportunities withing the proposed facility to share common areas such as locker rooms, offices, and concessions. In addition, we expect that other groups such as all spring and fall sports will use this facility in the off-season.
